It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of our beloved Damian J. Valdez, 32, a resident of Alcalde, on Saturday, October 17, 2020. Damian was called by our Lord to be joined with him and his family.
Damian was a kind soul that greeted everyone with a smile, a hug or a fist bump. He was an avid sports fan, especially following his teams the Broncos and Lakers. He also had a passion for sports cars and ATVs, and enjoyed spending his time modifying them. Damian was creative and had artistic talent, combined with his love for music, he spent time sketching replicas of his favorite guitars (to scale) and designing greetings cards. Damian had a big heart and showed immense love to everyone he knew. He was a very forgiving person and always said we should all love one another. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
Damian was preceded in death by his father Anthony Valdez, his mother Emily Valdez, Uncle James Valdez, and Grandmother Lillian Brito. He is survived by his grandparents (who raised him), Clyde and Lucille Valdez of Alcalde, aunts Alma Valdez (Paul Garcia ) of Alcalde, Julie Valdez (Alonso Aragon) of Alcalde, cousin Devine Valdez, and close cousin who was like a little sister, Aubrianna Valdez, grandfather Demontenes Brito, and many other relatives and friends.
A Rosary will be recited on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at 9:00 a.m. at the San Juan Bautista in Ohkay Owingeh with a Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated immediately. Burial to follow, at the La Villita Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, Alma Valdez and Julie Valdez. Honorary pallbearers are Aubrianna Valdez, Paul Garcia, Alonso Aragon, Elier Gonzales, Lucas Archuleta, Jeremy Archuleta, Crystal Hubbard, and Tim Trujillo.
