Filemon Romero – Age 87 was born on June 5th, 1925 and departed into eternal rest on January 23rd, 2013. Born and raised in Cordova, NM and a long-time resident of Truchas, NM, Filemon passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer. Filemon worked as a sheep herder for many years in Rawlins, Wyoming. After returning to New Mexico Filemon went to work as a custodian for Los Alamos National Labs until his retirement. Filemon was a loving person and loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren all dearly. Filemon will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.\r\nFilemon was preceded in death by his parents: Nabor and Octaviana Romero; brother, Ramon Romero; sisters: Ernestina Romero and Cora Sandoval; mother-in-law, Manuelita Ortiz; brother-in-law, Fred Ortiz; and nephews: Henry, Billy and Freddie Ortiz. \r\nFilemon is survived by his son, Lee Romero and wife Irene of Truchas; daughter, Anita Torres and husband Henry of Albuquerque; step-son, Carlos Vigil and wife Loretta of Las Tusas; beloved grandchildren: Alicia and Katiana Torres of Albuquerque, Julie, Valerie and Lee Romero, Jr. all of Truchas; his beloved great-grandchildren: Antoinette and Andrea Barela, Angelyssa and Jazmyn Montoya; step-grandchildren: Daniel Vigil and family, Anthony Vigil and family and Marie Vigil and family; mother of his children: Clorinda Romero of Truchas; his brothers: Isabro Romero and wife Rosina, Nabor Romero and wife Oclides and Joe Romero all of Cordova and numerous extended loving family and friends. \r\nThe family invites all family and friends to a memorial service at Smith Memorial Presbyterian Church in Truchas, NM on Saturday, February 2nd, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. A luncheon will follow at the Christian Education Building in Truchas.\r\nThe Romero and Torres families would like to thank family and friends for their phone calls, words of comfort, food, prayers and visits and to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory for the announcements. \r\nThis has been a courtesy announcement for the family of Filemon Romero by DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory.
