Cora Lopez, 95, a resident of El Rito, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 6, 2014. Cora was born in El Rito, NM on March 30, 1918 to the union of Maximinio Vigil and Rosita Herrera. Cora was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Deciderio Lopez, second husband, Rosario Lopez; daughters, Orlinda Lopez, and Susie Naranjo; grandson, (raised by her) Ronald James Naranjo, great-grandson, Javier Trujillo; four brothers, Pedro, Desiderio, Cipriano, and Frank Vigil, sister, Adelina Manzanares. Cora was a member of the Placitas Sociadad de San Antonio. She enjoyed her family and was a hard working woman with a kind and generous heart and was a wonderful example of what it is to be a loving mother, grandmother, and sister. Cora was the Matriarch of the Lopez family. Cora is survived by her children, Delia (Noberto) Trujillo of Las Cruces, Roman (Susie) Lopez, Joe Lopez, Dorain (Rudy) Maestas, Andy (Natalia) Lopez, Marbella (Benny) Martinez, and Christine (Raymond) Trujillo all of El Rito and step-daughter Lola (Harold) Vigil of Taylor, UT. Sisters Adelia Atencio of Indiatlantic, FL., Donelia Ortega of Española, and Maria Martinez of Salt Lake City, UT, and 25 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Public visitation will begin on Sunday, March 9, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. at the San Juan Nepomucemo Catholic Church in El Rito, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 10, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the San Juan Nepomucemo Catholic Church in El Rito, with a burial to follow at the Placitas Cemetery in El Rito, with the following serving as pallbearers, Casilda Provencio, Yvette Lopez, Karla Naranjo, Cora Elena Griego, Yasmin Lopez, and Angelica Armenta. The family of Cora Lopez has entrusted their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley. \r\n
