Consuelo Valdez

Consuelo Valdez, 92, a resident of Ojo Caliente, passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2018. Consuelo was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Florinda Torrez; husband, Onofre Valdez; son, Patricio Valdez; sister, Bertha; brother, Silviano; great-granddaughter, Christine Lopez and nephew, Randy Torrez. Consuelo loved to tend to everyone’s needs. Cooking food was the best way she showed her love for everyone. Caring for her family always made her happy. Mrs. Valdez is survived by her children, Leroy Valdez (Rose), Victor Valdez (Carmen) and Florinda Borrego (Michael); daughter-in-law, Eva Valdez, siblings, Evylyn Raul (Gilbert) and Silviano Torrez; grandchildren, Dennis Valdez (Francis), Patricia Lopez (Robert), Arthur Valdez, Phillip Valdez (Sonia), Barbara Martinez (David), Margaret Whetsell (Johnny), Matthew Valdez (Rose), Amy Varros (Tony), Kayla Valdez, Cathrine Valdez (Jaime), Jeanette Chacon (Toby), Victor Valdez Jr. (Sabrina), Francisco Gallegos, Crystal Lopez and Julissa Borrego; 36 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren and many other nieces, nephews, family and friends. A devotional service will be held on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. Funeral service will take place on Friday, February 9, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at La Petaca Catholic Church in Petaca with burial to follow at La Petaca Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers will be Dennis Valdez, Arthur Valdez, Phillip Valdez, Matthew Valdez, Victor Valdez Jr. and Francisco Gallegos. Honorary pallbearers will be Ryan Valdez, Dennis Valdez Jr. and Artie Valdez.
