Connie R. Lucero, went to meet her loving God on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at her home surrounded by all of her family. She was met in heaven by her parents, Apolonio and Justa Rodriguez; grandparents, Luciano and Pablita Rodriguez; parents-in-law, David and Bernardita Lucero; her loving uncles, Luciano Jr., and Antonio Rodriguez. Connie was a devoted, loving wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister and friend. Her love was generous and unconditional to its core. Her warm and welcoming home was open to everyone. She was witty and had a sense of humor that brought joy to all family gatherings. She loved babies, animals, movies, books, the outdoors, and the rain. She especially loved the Sacred Heart of Jesus and was devoted to her Catholic Faith. Connie retired from the Santa Fe Public School Administration. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Ray; her sons, Eddie and partner Kathy, Bernard (Karen) and daughters Rosanne McNeilly (Greg), Stephanie Romero (Chris). She leaves three grandchildren, Erin and Nathan Ray McNeilly and Jayden Ray Romero; she is also survived by her brother, John B. Rodriguez (Lorraine) and her sisters, Polly Montoya (Johnny) Josie Manzanares (Joe) and Tessie Anchondo; brothers-in-law, Tony Lucero (Vicky), Vincent Lucero, David Lucero (Corrine), Fred Lucero (Josie) and sisters-in-law, Gloria Baca, Donna Montoya (Pat), Corrine Garcia, Angie Lynch (Willie), Mary Lou Martinez, Helen Valdez (Eloy), Lupe Lujan (Alfred), and numerous nephews, nieces and other relatives. The family would like to extend gratitude to Father Daniel Gutierrez, Father Donatus, PMS Hospice, Christus St. Vincent’s Regional Medical Center, City of Santa Fe Senior Programs especially Theresa Trujillo and Diane Dean. Our love and thanks go to Betty Seymour and all others who were instrumental in her care. Public visitation will begin on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. at the St. Francis Cathedral Basilica in Santa Fe with a rosary to be recited at 10:00 a.m. and a Mass of Christian burial immediately after at 11:00 a.m. Burial to follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m., with a reception to follow at St. Anne’s Parish Hall with the following serving as pallbearers Greg and Nathan McNeilly, Chris Romero, Max Baca, Stephen Montoya, Vince Anchondo, and Rudy Gallegos. The family of Connie R. Lucero has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley.
