CLOVEO SANTIAGO RAEL, 74, a resident of Vallecitos, born to this world on June 14, 1943, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2018. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Eliza Rael; brothers, Leroy, Ronnie and Eddie Rael. Cloveo served in the Army in the 3rd Armored Division in Germany. He met the love of his life and companion Olivia, together they were blessed with two beautiful daughters and later became the proud grandfather of 6 grandchildren. He enjoyed helping out his community and loved being a Rancher. He loved western movies and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Olivia; daughters, Bernadette Salazar (Dennis Tim), Eliza Leyba (Alex); grandchildren, Chris, Nichole, Daniel and Xavier Leyba, Tim and Joshua Salazar; brothers, Daniel Jr. (Albinita) Rael, Joe (Katie) Rael, Elias Rael, Gilbert (Evelyn) Rael, sisters-in-law, Tillie Rael, Delma Jacquez, Lydia Gallegos, and Cora Martinez; brother-in-law, Alfonso Vargas and several nieces, nephews and other loving relatives. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. Public visitation will begin on Sunday, February 25th 2018 at 5:00p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home, with recitation of The Holy Rosary to follow at 6:00p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 26th 2018 at 11:00a.m. at the Vallecitos Catholic Church with burial to follow at the Vallecitos Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers are Tim Salazar IV, Chris Leyba, Nichole Leyba, Chris Martinez, Leslye Rael, and Felipe Sisneros, honorary pallbearers are Daniel Leyba, Joshua Salazar, and Xavier Leyba.
