CLOTARIO ARCHULETA, 84, born Feb 28, 1931 passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2015. The two families and many friends who loved Clotario Archuleta are today grieving his passing. Clotario, better known as “Archie” to his loved ones, his U.S. Army and New Mexico National Guard “battle buddies”, and his many friends and acquaintances, will be greatly missed. He will also be remembered with respect as a man who did his best in fulfilling his earthly roles of son, brother, husband, father, brother-in-law, friend, soldier, and most importantly, child of God. Indeed, those who did not have the opportunity to join him in praying and singing the rosary missed out on a beautiful sight. Clotario loved the state of New Mexico, wherein he was born, educated, worked, and resided throughout his life (except for brief periods, including during his service to his country in the Korean War). Because of his intelligence and generous nature, Archie frequently volunteered, when he knew he could be of use in assisting loved ones or friends, with home improvement projects or other matters of importance. Archie was also committed to his work as an Equal Employment Opportunity Officer for the National Guard, and was especially tireless in ensuring that his fellow soldiers would receive benefits they had earned and to which they were entitled. Welcoming him in Heaven are his father & mother, Jacobo & Matilde Archuleta; father & mother-in-law, Jose Ignacio & Donelia Lujan Madrid; sister, Grace Archuleta Faran; and sister-in-law, Bernie Madrid Naranjo. Surviving him are his wife, Helen Madrid Archuleta, whom he frequently and lovingly referred to as “the love of my life”; his equally beloved daughter Clorissa Andrea Archuleta; his siblings and their spouses; Cliseria Archuleta, Eliz Maestas & Gerald, Maria Andrea Rarick, Jacobo Archuleta & Rose Marie, Rita Bieri & Mike, Thomas Archuleta & Micky, Teresa Archuleta & David Spires and numerous nephews and nieces, for whom he cared deeply. Archie is further survived by his many siblings-in-law and their spouses; Mary Louise Borrego & Rumaldo, Connie Serrano & Abelino, Terry Sanchez & Mark, Gilbert Madrid & Shirley, Susan Lopez & Gene, and Jose Naranjo (Bernie) and numerous nephews and nieces by marriage, all of whom were dear to him. Archie’s last days were made a great deal more comfortable thanks to the devoted efforts of his caregivers, to whom his family sends their sincere thanks; Reina Miera, Brandy McManus, Gladiz Ortega, and Nancy Talavera; his nurses, Andrea and Hans of Heritage Home Healthcare & Hospice. In lieu of flowers, kindly send memorial contributions to your Veteran Charity Association of choice. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Santa Fe, 1301 Osage Ave, Santa Fe NM 87505, with a burial to follow at 11:15 a.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. The family of Clotario Archuleta has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
