Clorinda - Age 93 - Truchas - Romero

CLORINDA ORTIZ ROMERO, 93, a life-long resident of Truchas, passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side on Friday, November 7, 2014 at her daughter’s residence in Albuquerque. She spent her last evening surrounded by an outpouring of love and tenderness from family members. Clorinda was a beautiful person full of love especially for her family and her church.\r\nClorinda was a devoted member of Smith Memorial Presbyterian Church in Truchas and a recent attendee of Second Presbyterian Church in Albuquerque. She loved to garden, sew and she was an excellent cook and baker, known for her delicious biscochitos. Clorinda will be dearly missed by family, friends, neighbors and her church community.\r\nClorinda was preceded in death by her parents, Enriquez Ortiz and Manuelita Lopez Ortiz; her brother, Fred Ortiz and nephews, Henry, William and Freddie Ortiz as well as Patrick Martinez, Jr. who was like a grandson.\r\nClorinda is survived by her children, Carlos Vigil and wife Loretta of Las Tusas, Lee Romero and wife Irene of Truchas and Anita Torres and husband Henry of Albuquerque. She is survived by her beloved grandchildren, Daniel, Tony and Marie Vigil, Julie, Valerie and Lee Romero, Jr. and Alicia and Katiana Torres. She is also survived by her beloved great-grandchildren, Raymond, Jade, Rosemary, Joshua, Ezri, Kiern Vigil, Jasmine and Kayley Schmidt, Antoinette and Andrea Barela, and Angelyssa and Jazmyn Montoya.\r\nPublic visitation will begin on Monday, November 10, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with an evening service to follow at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Smith Memorial Presbyterian Church in Truchas. Burial to follow at Los Llanitos Presbyterian Cemetery. Carrying Clorinda to her final resting place will be her grandchildren, Daniel, Tony and Marie Vigil, Julie, Valerie and Lee Romero, Jr. and Alicia and Katiana Torres. Following the burial please join the family to break bread at the Truchas Christian Education building.\r\nThe family would like to thank Ambercare Hospice of Española/Albuquerque and Connie Garcia, Proni Corrales and Leonore Trujillo for their care taking support in her final years. We also wish to thank all family, friends and neighbors for their condolences, outpouring of phone calls, words of comfort, visits and food. Thank you to the Smith Memorial Presbyterian Church Women’s Association for the love and support they expressed with Clorinda; Margaret Franke and Rev. Jaime Quinones for supporting the family in this time of loss. Our thanks also go out to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory for their professionalism, compassion and care in transporting our beautiful mother back home to her final resting place.
