CLEOTILDE (CLEO) DORA MAESTAS ULIBARRI, 86, a resident of Chama, passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2012. Cleo was preceded in death by her husband of almost 51 years, Jose Ulibarri; her parents; brothers, Herminio, Fernando, Mardo I and Mardo II, Daniel and Severo; sisters, Elvira, Martha, Maria, Sara, Ysidorita and grandson, Geno Martinez. Cleo was the fifth child to be born to Benjamin P. and Emilia (Cordova) Maestas in Gallina, NM. Cleo married Jose Gilberto Ulibarri on February 5, 1945 in Aztec, NM. They lived in New Mexico, Utah and Colorado, but they always seemed to end up back in Chama. Everyone knew that if Cleo was cooking at any restaurant in town, the food was going to be good and worth going out of the way for. She helped numerous friends and family - no matter when or where. Mom never knew a stranger and adopted children all over the country. There was always a meal to share, a pot of beans, chili and fresh tortillas, and if you were lucky one of those famous cinnamon rolls. She loved to roast chili and make her jellies. Your smile and laughter will be missed! Vaya con Dios, Mamacita. Mrs. Ulibarri is survived by her sister, Emma and husband Leon Vestal; brother-in-law, Eddie Ulibarri and wife Maria; sisters-in-law, Eva Maestas, and Genoveva Ulibarri; children, Bert (Rex) Boyden, Patricia (Modesto) Benavidez, Andy (Kathy) Ulibarri, JoAnn (Bryan Moore) Stoltenberg, Alice (Allen) Barnard, Jim (Lana) Ulibarri, Felicia (Gene) Carrillo; 21 grandchildren, and 28 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
