Cleo M. Naranjo, 59, tribal member of Santa Clara Pueblo passed away due to a sudden illness on May 19, 2018, with his family by his side. He was preceded in death by his mother, Rina Swentzell and his grandparents, Rose and Michael Naranjo. Cleo is survived by his loving wife, Leslie Naranjo; daughter, Devonna Naranjo and companion Darren Calvert; sons, Nathaniel and Michael Naranjo; grandson, Troy Naranjo; sister, Roxanne Swentzell; nephew, Porter Swentzell and fiancé Nicole Lovato; nieces, Rose Simpson and Cedar Rain; cousin who was like a sister, Rowena Gibson and husband Charles; best friends, Lawrence Naranjo (Louise) and Daniel Naranjo (Nadine) and many other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, as well as many other relatives and friends.
Cleo loved to laugh and joke with everyone. His passions were hunting, fishing, bowling and golfing, he also loved running and basketball in his earlier days. His kids are proud to say they grew up in the gym, watching him play basketball and volleyball. He was an amazing hunter and fisherman, and he consistently “out fished” his sons no matter how hard they tried. He was a loving husband to his lovely wife and an amazing father. He was all of their best friend. He will be deeply missed. A wake service will be held at his home on Monday, May 21, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. The family of Cleo M. Naranjo has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
