Claudia Salazar

CLAUDIA SALAZAR , 86, a resident of Medanales gained her wings and ascended on her journey to Heaven on Thursday, January 21, 2021, following a lengthy illness. She was at home surrounded by her loving immediate family members. Claudia was born to Marina and Roman Salazar on October 17, 1934 in the small community of Hernandez.  She was preceded in death by her parents, and the father of her children, Antonio Martinez; her eldest son, Benny Martinez, whom she loved dearly; her loving husband, Candido Salazar; her sister, Ramona Salazar; her brothers, Juan, Antonio and Wilfred Salazar.  Claudia is survived by her daughter, Darlene (Ruben Maez) of Medanales, Juan (Gloria Martinez) of Medanales, Anthony (Cindy Martinez) of Amarillo, TX; 13 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Roman Salazar and sister, Angie Salazar. Claudia lived in Santa Fe with her husband Candido for many years, she was a well-known professional seamstress, she enjoyed cooking, making and jarring jam, enjoyed the Mariachi concerts at the fiestas and taking walks. Claudia was a devout Catholic and attended St. John’s Catholic church every Sunday.  She looked forward to her visits from her sons, kicking back watching TV, this was comforting for her.  Claudia took great pride in the fact that she was able to spend time and help out with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  During her lengthy illness she moved back to Medanales to live with her daughter who cared for her until her death.  During this time, we want to thank the wonderful caregivers that Claudia was blessed to have, especially her beloved great-granddaughter, Mariah Moreland and other caregivers including, Rosemary Valdez and Vickie Sanchez. We will miss our beloved mother, grandmother and sister very dearly.  She was loved by all who knew her. Private services for the immediate family members will take place . The family of Claudia Salazar has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
