Clara A. Age - 95 Velarde Garcia

Clara A. Garcia, 95, a resident of Velarde passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2011 following a short illness. She loved tending to her chickens, baking bread & cooking delicious meals. She tremendously loved taking care of all her grandchildren. Clara enjoyed attending the Senior Citizens Center & visiting with friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fernando and Isabel Allemand; husband, Lorenzo Garcia; son, Samuel M. Garcia; daughter, Elisia Leger; 5 sisters and 2 brothers. Clara is survived by her daughter, Sandra R. Cata and husband Ernie of Española; sons: Lawrence J. Garcia and wife Kathleen of Velarde, Ralph A. Garcia of Velarde; grandchildren: Lawrence O. Garcia and companion Marie of Velarde, Danielle A. Garcia and companion Eugene of Velarde, Erica M. Garcia of Albuquerque, Betsy A. McCullough and husband David of Taos and Beverly A. Cata of Española; great-granddaughter, Ashleigh T. Armijo of Velarde; numerous other relatives & friends. Public visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Velarde with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at 8:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Velarde. Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Lawrence J. Garcia, Ralph A. Garcia, Ernie Cata, Lawrence O. Garcia, David McCullough, and Eugene Valdez; honorary pallbearers: will be all her grandchildren & great-granddaughter. The family of Clara A.
