Christopher Serrano

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Christopher Serrano, a beloved son, brother, nephew, cousin and friend.   Christopher entered eternal life on May 15, 2024.

Christopher was born on May 29, 1982, in Espanola, NM.   He was the second child of Sammy Martinez and Yvonne Serrano.  He was a resident of Chimayo, NM, for most of his life.

Christopher was preceded in death by his parents Sammy Martinez and Yvonne Serrano; brother Benito Serrano; maternal grandparents Seferino and Marcelina Serrano; paternal grandparents Jose and Ramona Martinez; aunt Eva Archuleta and uncle Seferino Serrano.

Christopher is survived by his aunts Annie Jaramillo, Susie Aveldano (Manuel), Ella Lujan, Jane Ortiz and Linda Carnley; Goddaughter Memari Roybal; and many cousins, relatives and friends.

Christopher was a very kind and loving person.  He made a huge impact on so many people’s lives.   No matter how busy things got, he always made time for the people he cared for and showed us that family always comes first no matter what.  Everyone who knew him knew how proud he was of the people he loved.  He enjoyed camping, fishing and attending family functions.   He had a very contagious laugh and a smile that was never ending.

Christopher, we will cherish the memories of you forever.   You were so loved and will always be remembered.  You are now with your family, flying with the angels.  Watch over us until we meet again.  

A Rosary will be recited on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at 1:00 pm, with a Mass to follow at 2:00 pm at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo, NM.  Burial will follow at the Nuestra Senora de Dolores Cemetery in Chimayo, NM.

Serving as Pallbearers are Diego Rodriguez, Steve Salazar, Louise Marrufu, Charles Marrufo, April Garcia, Marcella Martinez, Edwina Romero and Regina Romero.  Honorary Pallbearers are Tiffany Sandoval, Adrian Lucero and Dylan Serrano.
