Christina Griego

CHRISTINA L. GRIEGO, 86, a lifelong resident of La Madera, passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, September 28, 2015. Christina was preceded in death by her husband, Antonio S. Griego; children, Stanley A. Griego, Leo Griego, and Loretta Griego; grandson, Mark M. Martinez; parents, Juan Bautista and Elena Lovato and several siblings. Christina along with her husband owned and operated La Pasada Store in La Madera for 45 years. She loved gardening, quilting and embroidery. She was a devoted, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Christina is survived by her children, Mary Agnes Martinez and husband Manuel of Española, Janet Malcom and husband Jack of La Mesilla, Debra Griego and partner Steve Carlisle of Santa Fe, and Sandra Griego of Las Cruces; daughter-in-law, Augusta Griego of La Madera; grandchildren, Thomas, Donald, and David Griego, James Malcom, Patricia Carr, Matthew Martinez and Lorrie Griego; brother and sisters, Levi Lovato of Las Tablas, Dora Sanchez and husband Nestor of Farmington, Alice Martinez and husband Carlos of Solano, NM and Glenn Lovato and wife Helen of Ojo Caliente; 16 great-grandchildren; care givers, Mayra Castro-Oliva and her children Norlan and Eric, Socorro Perez and Fedelina Castillo, and numerous other relatives and friends. A Wake will be recited on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 2, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Family Plot in La Madera, with  burial to follow. Serving as honorary pallbearers are all her grandchildren.  The family of Christina L.
