Chris Delgado

Chris A. Delgado, 81, a resident of Española, passed away on Friday, October 5, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his mother Anita Delgado; father Luis Delgado; brother, Louie Delgado; grandson, Nicholas Paul; great-granddaughter, Adylina June and father-in-law, Phillip Guillen. Chris was a loving and kind man with a beautiful and contagious smile, a smile one can never forget. Chris was an avid outdoors-mans. He loved to fish, hunt and take drive to the mountains. He was a hard worker, and an accomplished carpenter by trade who created beautiful furniture masterpieces for his home and family. Most recently he had been making beautiful walking canes. He enjoyed spending time with his friends whether it be afternoon drives, having breakfast at the casino, or sitting on his front porch visiting with great conversation. He was loved by many but most importantly his biggest accomplishment was his family. The love he had for his wife Pearl was one that was undeniable. He loved his children and had a unique relationship with each one. He dedicated his life to being the best Husband, Dad, and Grandpa. Chris is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Pearl Delgado; children, Mesha Delgado, Bobby Delgado, Anita Delgado, and Catherine Apodaca (Robert); grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he raised, Delayna Delgado (Zene), David Delgado, Hailey, Aidan, and Nevena; grandchildren, Manuel (Briana), Dommino (Richard), Christopher (Rhiannon), Ashley, Marysa, Isaiah, Santiago, Dominic; great-grandchildren, Marquez, Adam, Paityn, Derek, and Marc Jacob; mother-in-law, Matilda Guillen; Step-mom, Mary Delgado; siblings, Irene Maestas (Ben), Samuel Delgado (Linn) Anthony Martinez, Maria Louisa Martinez (Roy), Gloria Delgado, and Felix Delgado (Maria); sisters-in-law, Rose Ellen Guillen and Dorothy DeVargas (Toby); aunt Belen Vigil and special aunt Carlotta Arguello as well as many numerous loving nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends whom he loved dearly. Public visitation will begin on Sunday, October 14, 2018 at 5:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. Memorial mass will be celebrated on Monday, October 15, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Holy Cross Church in Santa Cruz. Burial to follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.  The family of Chris A. Delgado has entrusted the care of their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
