Cheri - Los Alamos Chance

d. April 1, 2013

Cheri Chance, currently of Los Alamos, New Mexico, passed on into the energy of the universe and heaven on Monday, April 1, 2013. Cheri was the matriarch, anchor, and rock for her family and friends that extend across this country. Cheri was the daughter of Carolyn Chance and Alvin Chance (deceased). Cheri, the eldest, is survived by her sister Laura and brothers Mike and Kevin. Cheri was the strong and loving mother to Tess Levinson and Tye Smith, mother-in-law to Adam Levinson, and stepmom to Garrett Rhodes. Cheri was the world, the wind, and the fire to her husband David Rhodes. Cheri was a hero-style grandmother and leg-wrestling champion to Cameron Levinson, Keisha Gascon, Trevor Daggers, and Dylan Daggers and was a great-grandmother. Cheri was an incredible woman of many varied lives and touched the lives of so many in each pursuit and in life. Cheri ranched in eastern New Mexico, studied painting in Taos (here she developed a life-long passion, became a cost engineer and worked in project controls, competed as a professional body-builder, trained other body-builders, loved camping and hiking and canoeing in the great outdoors. Cheri loved playing and competing, including soccer, track and field, croquet, poker, tug-of-war, and darts. Cheri spent most of her life in the wide open, big-sky country of New Mexico, Nevada, and Colorado. Cheri was happy around mountains and with her hands in the dirt growing flowers and vegetables. Cheri was the alpha-female and loved all dogs and other animals and had a special talking relationship with hummingbirds that you had to see to believe. But the single biggest strength of Cheri was the incredible passion and energy that she invested in her friendships, with such a fantastic and eclectic group of stimulating people she would do anything for and they do for her. For these friends, she invested her life energy. Cheri will be remembered by all who knew her. However, in lieu of flowers, etc., Cheri would have liked the idea of donations to a cause in which she believed, in a doctor that extended her incredible life, and to fight the disease she battled.
