Charles Maestas

On December 20, 2023, Charles Maestas went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He left this world full of faith and anticipation.

Charles was preceded in death by his father Ignacio Maestas, brother Lawrence Boy” Maestas, niece Renezmae Calzada, good friend Gerald Pinon Man” Valdez, and Ignacio Nacho” Lujan.

Charles is survived by his wife Janelle Vigil-Maestas, children Warren and wife Megan Maestas, Maurissa and husband Fabian Martinez, and Lawrence Maestas. Mother Helen Maestas, sister Henrietta and husband Dana Gaines, brother Clarence Maestas and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He also had many people who helped him in his time of need, Dwayne Vigil, Louie and Valerie Sandoval, Mel Herrera, and Darroll Abeyta.

Charless life was blessed by God and full of happiness. He enjoyed a good book, a great movie and watching the Dallas Cowboys. He loved listening to music as loud as he could. He always talked about his get rich quick schemes. He was the kind of man to help people when they needed him. He was the kind of father who showed his kids how to be themselves and to have fun in every moment. He was the uncle who dressed up as clown for the birthday party and lit fireworks every 4th of July. The man at church who always had candy in his pocket. He was also the man who loved having coffee and chatting at the senior center in Espanola.

When he left to go home, he had a smile and a laugh and knew that he was loved with his family by his side. He will be missed but we will see him again. With that, as he said in his final moments, Shut the lights off, the party is over.”

A service will be held at Valley Bible Baptist Church in Arroyo Seco, NM On Saturday, January 6, 2024, at 1:00 p.m.

Honorary pallbearers are Clarence Maestas Jr., Donovan Maestas, Jacob Maestas, Kyle Gaines, Dwayne Vigil, Louie Sandoval, Mel Herrera, Jake Martinez, Benny J. Vigil, and Randy Gurule.
