CHARLES R. MARTINEZ, 77, a resident of Alcalde, passed away on Friday, December 27, 2013. He was born in Sanford, Colorado on November 4, 1936 to Macario and Josefa Salazar-Martinez. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sandra Martinez; brothers, Lucas and Estevan; sisters, Emma Romero, Rose Archuleta, and Bennita Sena. Mr. Martinez is survived by his wife of 47 years, Theresa Martinez; sons, Chuck Martinez and wife Michelle of Denver, CO, Kevin Martinez of Alcalde, Matthew Martinez and wife Jolene of Ohkay Owingeh and Jeff Martinez and wife Paige of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Felicia, Charles, Jr., Christian, Catilyn, Aubree, Aspen and Averie Martinez; brother, Max Martinez and wife Stella of Pueblo, CO, Levy Arellano and wife Maria of Medanales, and Brigit Arellano and husband Walter of Denver, CO; sisters, Feloniz Archuleta of Utah, Isabel Valdez of Monte Vista, CO, Molly Quintana of Cerro, CO; brother-in-law, Dr. Gilbert Martinez of Albuquerque; sisters-in-law, Susie Martinez of El Guique, Sarah Rendon of Santa Fe, Diana Jimenez of Albuquerque and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Monday, December 30, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. also at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh. Burial to follow at the San Rafael Catholic Cemetery in El Guique with the following serving as pallbearers, Randy Martinez, Roger Archuleta, Paul Quintana, Dean Archuleta, Curtis Arellano and Juanito Arellano. The family of Charles R. Martinez has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
