Charlene B. Hartell, 95, died peacefully at home on June 16, 2015 surrounded by family.  She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She is survived by 4 children, 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.  For more than 60 years she resided in the Espanola Valley.  She recently resided in Las Cruces, New Mexico.  Charlene was born on February 3, 1920, in Palo Pinto County near Fort Worth, Texas, to William and Emma Bradley.  She was raised in Tres Piedras, New Mexico.  She graduated from McCurdy School with the class of 1938 and remained a committed alumnus supporting the school in many ways.  Charlene loved life.  She loved her family and friends.  She was respected and admired by her students, colleagues and clients.  She made a difference in the lives of many who passed her way.  Just as she served students when a young woman of 21 in a single room schoolhouse in Tres Piedras, New Mexico, Charlene continued to serve others as a professional counselor in Espanola, New Mexico for more than 20 years.  She was a committed Christian and a life-long member of Valley View United Methodist Church.  After moving to Las Cruces, Charlene attended El Calvario United Methodist Church where she was blessed by a loving church family.  A funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at 9:00 A.M. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a burial to follow 11:15 a.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to share food and fellowship at Valley View United Methodist Church in Espanola immediately following burial.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Charlene’s name to McCurdy Ministries, 261 S. McCurdy Road, Espanola, NM, 87532, or a charity of your choice. The family of Charlene B.
