Celina V. Sanchez was born on October 3, 1925 to Jose Dolores Valdez and Juanita Lujan Valdez in Dixon. She was the fifth child of ten. Her siblings who predeceased her were Gregorita “Golla” Sanchez, Beroniz “Cona” Archuleta, Zacarias Valdez, Silas Valdez, Laura Duran, Rose DeHerrera, Lucy Valdez Segura and Alice Arellano. She is survived by her youngest brother, Ben Valdez of Dixon.
She married Jose I. Sanchez and they were married for more than 40 years. Their children were Annabelle Malone, Everett Sanchez, Danny Sanchez and his spouse Dinah, Casey Sanchez, Janet Sanchez and Randy Sanches and his spouse Susan. Janet passed away in 1962 and Everett passed away in 2010. In addition to all her favorite grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, she had a special grandson, Terris Bustos. She loved all her grandchildren (16), great-grandchildren (22) and great-great grandchildren (8). She also had many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly and many visited her frequently.
Celina lived most of her life in the Dixon area. While living her life in the Dixon area, she traveled every chance she got, whether it was to California, Colorado, Texas, Florida, Hawaii or Washington D.C. She enjoyed all aspects of her life. Celina was truly a woman of strength and determination, being one of three graduates in her high school. That determination carried with her throughout her entire life. Giving her family unconditional support in all they did, she always made herself available to be there for every event or activity they were in. She had a loving heart for all as her house was always full, her door was always open and anytime you would visit, you could guarantee she would have something ready for you to eat and always offered a cup of coffee. We will always remember for her unconditional support, welcoming nature, loving spirit and passion for family, fishing and the Denver Broncos.
Public visitation will begin on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at 6:00 pm in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a memorial service to follow at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at 10:00 am the Dixon Presbyterian Church with interment services and a reception to follow.
