Celestino Gonzales, 90, a resident of El Guache, passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2016 following a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his mother, Rosalia Trujillo and his beloved wife, Virginia Gonzales. Celestino proudly served his country in World War II. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He remained active to the end. He especially enjoyed gardening and doing household chores and taking daily walks with his blue heeler, Spot. He was a devout Catholic and a parishioner at Sacred Heart Church in Española. At one time he was committed to spending an hour every week with the Blessed Sacrament in the Sacred Heart Chapel. He also served as a Eucharistic Minister to the homebound. Mr. Gonzales is survived by his children, Robert and wife Carmen, and Samuel all of Alcalde, Dolores and husband Chris of El Guache, Harold of San Francisco, CA, and Celestino of Santa Fe; grandchildren, Victoria and Rudolfo Gonzales; great-granddaughter, Ariana and numerous other relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Española. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. also at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Española. Burial to follow at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, Rudolfo Gonzales, Peter Maestas, Daniel Martinez, Derrick Martinez, Pablo Prando and Miguel Vigil.
