Catherine G. - Age 79 - Tierra Amarilla Martinez

Catherine G. Martinez – Age 79 our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister was lifted into her Heavenly Father on Saturday, June 5, 2010. She was preceded in death by her parents: Alberto and Eufemia Garcia; sisters: Maria Luisa Garcia and Inez “Innie” Garcia; brother, Eddie Garcia; parents-in-law: Juan de Dios and Salome Martinez; nephew, Rick Garcia; and sister-in-law, Odelia Garcia. She was a life long resident of Tierra Amarilla, she was a devoted catholic and a parishioner of the Santo Niño Catholic Church. She loved working with children as a head start teacher prior to her retirement, from Rio Arriba County. She showed them love and kindness always. She had a wonderful sense of humor and would light up a room with her beautiful smile. She will be missed and loved forever. She is survived by her husband, Julio F. Martinez of Tierra Amarilla; children: Yvonne “Pinky” Gonzales of Santa Fe, Alberto Martinez of Tierra Amarilla, Elaine Chavez and husband Fernando of Los Ojos, Marilyn Martinez of Albuquerque and Antonio Martinez of Tierra Amarilla; a granddaughter whom she raised, Miranda Tara Buffet of Albuquerque; grandchildren: Miguel, Diego and Marialisa Gonzales, Estrella Aguilar, Juan Jose Martinez, Raquel Chavez, Candace Valdez and Tiera Martinez; great-grandchildren: Cortez Martinez, Anisa Katalina Gonzales and Jacobo Chavez; brother, Bernie Garcia and family of Tierra Amarilla; sisters: Dulcenia “Candy” Olguin of La Mesilla and Becky Moya and husband Donald of Aztec, NM; she is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. The family would like to acknowledge her niece, Pebbles Garcia for spending so many hours with our Catherine and Tessie Sanchez her home health provider for assisting her with so much love the past five years of her life. A rosary will be recited on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at the Santo Niño Catholic Church in Tierra Amarilla. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Santo Niño Catholic Church in Tierra Amarilla. Burial will follow at the Los Ojos Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Gilbert Olguin, Bernie Garcia, Jr., Phillip Garcia, Juan Jose Martinez, Miguel and Diego Gonzales and Pebbles Garcia. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be: Raquel Chavez, Candace Valdez, Jacobo Chavez, Marialisa and Anisa Gonzales and Cortez Martinez. The family of Catherine G.
