Carolina (Carrie) Lopez, 76, Born April 29, 1939, a lifelong resident of El Llano, New Mexico passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, November 5, 2015. Carrie had many loves…She had the most amazing voice and loved to sing at church and wake services. Carrie was a devout Catholic and was very strong in her faith. She was an amazing cook and loved to cook to for everyone. Every evening you could find Carrie glued to her TV watching her favorite novelas. Carrie’s other favorite pass time was going to play bingo with her partner in crime Maggie or going to play slots with her husband Horacio. Carrie was always with a smile on her face, telling jokes and making everyone around feel lots of joy. Carrie’s greatest love was her family. She was always so proud of her family, showing off pictures anytime she saw a friend or made a new one.  She was the most caring, big hearted, giving woman always putting everyone before herself.  She opened her home to everyone and never treated anyone poorly.
Carrie was preceded in death by her sons, Leroy Herman Lopez & Jimmy Ramon Lopez; her parents Celestino and Refugito Espinoza; Great-Granddaughter Genevieve Lopez; Her in-laws Emerado and Sofia Lopez; siblings Dan Espinoza, Erlinda Perez, Amy Archuleta, Antonio Espinoza, Clara Martinez; brother- in- laws Michael Salazar, Reyes Archuleta, Arturo Perez.
Carrie is survived by her husband of 57 years Horacio A. Lopez of El Llano, New Mexico. She is also survived by her children:  David Lopez, Sr. and companion Diane Martinez,  Ruth Lopez, Jackie Martinez and husband Russell Martinez, Valerie Trujillo and companion Howard Gurule, Peggy Lopez and companion Shane Casias, Tracy Lujan and husband James Lujan all of Espanola, NM; Grandchildren: Ruby Baca (Hilario) of San Antonio, Texas, Leroy Martinez (Monica), of Espanola, NM, Ashley Vigil (Chris) and Kendall Lujan (Rafael) of Albuquerque, NM, Dillon Trujillo of San Francisco, California, Lekieshia Martin (Juan) and Joseph Norris of Alcalde, NM, , Amber Sky, James J, & Javin Lujan,  David Lopez Jr., Emmanuel & Lee Gallegos Jr.  all of Espanola, NM; Great Grandchildren, Gabrielle Vigil, Noah Vigil, Jayden Espinoza, Amorette Vigil, Kenneth Vigil, Antonio Martin-DeVargas, Alicia Munoz,; Sister, Carmen Gallegos and husband Archie of Rio Rancho, NM, and brother Harold Espinoza wife Corine of El Llano, NM; brother in-law Fred (Lico) Lopez; sister-in-laws Delfina Salazar, Sylvia Martinez (Nestor), LaLa Trujillo (Juan), Aurelia Fernandez (Juan), Edna Espinoza, Andrelita Espinoza; God daughter: Carol Lemaster (Larry) of Taylor Ranch, NM and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A special thank you to the AmberCare Staff for the kindness and care provided to Carrie: Ashley, Shirley, Nora, Gracie & Janice. To all her friends and family who visited during Carrie’s illness.
Public visitation will begin on Monday, November 9, 2015 at 6:00 in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a wake service to follow at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Canada, with a burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers, Leroy Martinez, Dillon Trujillo, James J. Lujan, Joseph Norris, David Lopez Jr, Javin Lujan, James B. Lujan, Chris Munoz, and Emmanuel Gallegos.
Honorary pallbearers: Ruby, Ashley, Lekiesha, Kendall, Amber Sky, Gabrielle, Noah, Jayden, Amorette, Kenneth, Antonio, Alicia Lee, Shane, Russell, Howard, Diane
The family of Carolina E. Lopez has entrusted the care of their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley.
