Carol Martinez

CAROL L. MARTINEZ, 58, a resident of Lyden, passed away on Tuesday, May 09, 2017. Carol Martinez was born on November 28, 1958 and passed away on May 9, 2017.  She was preceded in death by her parents Aniceto and Viola Martinez; sister, Yvette Martinez.  She lived in Velarde until 1992 when she moved to Lyden.  She worked at an insurance company in Los Alamos. Then in July of 2001, Carol started working at Gino’s Gym, “Atlas Fitness Center” where she found her niche in life.  It was working with Gino and the gym members whom she considered her family.  She loved her job and the members treated her with love and respect.  She worked there until February of this year. Carol is survived by one brother and three sisters; her companion of 14 years, Armando “Hack” Lucero;  two very close and dear friends Marcie and Louella Medina, other friends Mary Romero, Darby and Randy Rendon and Rosina Lopez and all of her gym members.  In Carol’s own words, “Thanks goes to Gino Brazil for giving me the opportunity to work at your gym, not just to work but to meet wonderful people.”
Recitation of the rosary will be held on Friday, May 12, 2017 at 11:00a.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada, with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 12:00p.m. Burial will take place at the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery. Carrying Carol to her final resting place with honor will be the following gym friends,  Mike Torrez, George Martinez, Richard Rickenberg and Eric Garcia, as well as her nephews Reynal Martinez and Jason Sanchez, honorary Pallbearers are all the Atlas Fitness Gym Members.
