Carnation M. Lockwood, 91, a resident of Ohkay Owingeh, passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 following a short illness. Carnation was preceded in death by her parents, Carpio and Fidelia Martinez; husband, Raphael; sons, Billy and Michael; sisters, Felicita Cruz and Juanita Martinez. She was always working with pottery, and sewing, she was a member of the Holy Family Society and especially going to all the casinos in the valley. Mrs. Lockwood is survived by her grandson, Steven; nieces, Dora, Carol (Eric), Sybil (Anthony), Melodie (Jude), and Marquetta; nephews, Wilbert, James (Learey), Jonathan, and Pete; God-son, Merlin Martinez; her favorite playmate, Jayla Martinez and many other relatives. We would like to thank the Española Nursing & Rehab for the care given to our loved one also to Amber Care Hospice. A rosary will be recited on Friday, November 29, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at the family home in Ohkay Owingeh. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh. Burial to follow at the Ohkay Owingeh Catholic cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, James, Jonathan, Eric, Merlin, Kyle, Pete, Anthony, and Robert. The family of Carnation Lockwood has entrusted their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
