Carmen Espinoza Quintana, to know her was to love her! A lifelong resident of Espanola left us on the evening of January 15, 2023. Carmen was born in the Espanola Valley and made her way to heaven while in Albuquerque, after a brief illness.
Carmen was preceded in death by her Father, Jose B. Espinoza, maternal and paternal grandparents from El Llano and Ranchitos, and her father-in-law, Willie Quintana of San Pedro. Carmen is survived by her husband, Steven W. Quintana, Mother, Genevieve Espinoza, son, Derick Quintana, granddaughter, Keanna Quintana (Edward Rodriguez), and great granddaughter, Kamille Quintana. She is also survived by her two sisters, Judy Garcia (Xavier) and Lucy Maestas (Frank) of Espanola, and mother-in-law Stella Quintana. Mourning the loss of their Auntie Carmen are numerous nieces and nephews, as well as cousins throughout northern New Mexico.
Carmen’s passion was helping her family, in any capacity. Carmen’s career included working at the First Judicial District Court, and was an accomplished hairstylist, owning her own salon, in Espanola. Carmen also served on various Boards in her community at Valley Estates, in Espanola. She will be remembered for her witty remarks, bright smile and contagious laughter. Carmen found humor in any situation and enjoyed sharing her views on any subject.
