On Thursday October 29, 2020 our beloved Carmen Herrera from Nambé was taken to her resting place with our Lord surrounded by her loving family. She was born on 4/23/48. She retired from Pojoaque Valley Schools where she worked in the library and ran the computer lab, she was like a mother to all her students. She loved singing and had the voice of an angel. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, she loved all children and everyone she met, she had a big heart and her family was the most important thing to her. She always put the needs of others before her own. She was a very devoted Catholic. She is survived by her loving husband and high school sweetheart of 53 years, Frutoso Herrera; their two children, Keith and Tammy Herrera and her partner David; grandson, Jeremiah Herrera and step-grandson, Sammy; God-Children, Pam Garcia and Gary Garcia; sisters, Bennie, Maryann, Evangeline, Sophia (Harry); brothers, Mino (Agnes), David (Lugie), Sammy (Christina); sister-in-law, Irene (Ernie), Debra (Richard), Sally (Gilbert), Rae (Marshal), Virginia, Elsie, Tina; brothers-in-law, Harold (Georgia), Larry (Diane), best friend, Poly. Esmeralda and too many nieces and nephews to mention. Carmen was preceded in death by her parents, Carmel and Juanita Romero; sisters, Tillie & Johnny Garcia, Loraine and Ben Montoya, Albert and MaryAnn Herrera; brother, Eloy Herrera; mother-in-law, Adelia Porter; brothers-in-law, Richard & Conrad Herrera. James Porter, Esto Montoya and Eligio Griego. A devotional service will held on Thursday, November 5, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory.  The family of Carmen Herrera has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley. 505-747-7477-www.devargasfuneral.com
