Carlos - Age 75 - Chimayo - Martinez

CARLOS MARTINEZ, 75, a resident of Chimayo, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 in Las Vegas at the Alta Vista Hospital. Carlos was preceded in death by his parents, Esquipula B. Martinez and Teresita Trujillo Martinez; brother, Floyd Martinez; sisters-in-law, Celina and Marica Martinez; brother-in-law, James Nelson-Salazar; nephews, Dominic Salazar, Jimmy Martinez and Chris and Escolastico Martinez. Carlos was born on December 9, 1935 in Chimayo to Esquipula and Teresita Martinez. He resided in Chimayo all his life where he enjoyed tending the apple and pear orchards as well as planting and harvesting green chile. He was also as member of the Holy Family Association and loved his family. He was always with a genuine concern for all his family members, wanting to know how each one was doing, asking for them by name. Carlos spent the last 3 years of his life at the Vida Encantada Nursing and Rehab Center in Las Vegas. Mr. Martinez is survived by his sister and caregiver, Ida Salazar; brothers, Horacio Martinez and wife Rosina, Orlando Martinez and Raymond Martinez and wife Concha; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Friday, November 4, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo. Burial to follow at the Nuestra Señora de Dolores Cemetery in Chimayo with the following serving as pallbearers, Santiago, Flavio, Marty, Jr. Martinez, Joseph Crespin, Danny Valdez and Ricky Martinez. Honorary pallbearers, Jennifer Salazar, Theresa Rosner Salazar, Arlene Crespin, Annabelle Valdez, Darlene Martinez and Jennifer DeVargas. The family of Carlos Martinez has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
