Carlos - Age 32 - Herrera

CARLOS C. HERRERA, was born on April 26, 1980 and went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 10, 2012. Carlos was preceded in death by his grandfather, Johnny C. Herrera, Sr. who was like his father; close cousin, A.J. Herrera and great-grandparents, Antonio and Eduvigen Quintana and Ramoncita Herrera. Carlos loved animals and was exposed to the outdoors and acquired a love for animals through his grandfather and uncles (brothers). Carlos was also a gifted artist, caring and loving son, brother, nephew and uncle. Those who were lucky enough to receive any of Carlos’ crafts will treasure them forever, just like our memories of Carlos. Carlos was the love of his mom’s life. He was very protective of his mother and grandmother and all the people he loved. He loved spending time with his nephew, Kaiden, who loved the naps he took in uncle’s arms; they also enjoyed eating their chips and candy together. Carlos took great pride in telling people he had 2 moms and a big family. Carlos is survived by his mother, JoAnn Herrera of Riverside; grandmother and second mother, Amada Q. Herrera of Riverside, adopted grandparents, Johnny and Erlinda Montoya; aunts and uncles who he considered his brothers and sisters, LeRoy Herrera (Erlinda) of Fairview, Johnny Herrera, Jr. (Elvira) of El Duende, Michael Herrera and companion Yvonne Martinez of Chamita, Tony Herrera and companion Melissa Martinez of Nambe, Art Herrera (Norma) of Española, Helen Atencio (Eddie) of Las Vegas, NM, Lily Garcia (Andy) of Alamogordo, Eva Medina (Leroy) of Chimayo, Judy Maestas of Alcalde, Cathy Herrera, Sandra Maestas and companion Josh Chavez and Kaiden Maestas Chavez all of Riverside; God-parents, Johnny and Amada Herrera and Michael Herrera and numerous other relatives and friends. Private services have taken place. Serving as pallbearers are, LeRoy, Johnny, Jr., Michael, Tony, Johnny III and Antonio Herrera. Honorary pallbearers named are, Anthony Valdez, Antonio Maestas, Lucas Cordova, Jr., Moises Morales, Emilio Baca, Lorenzo Zuniga, Marcus Tavasci, Adrian Chacon, Andrew Adkins, Kaiden Chavez, Miguel Espiricueta, Jr., Sabrina Martinez, Jazzy Martinez and his God-brothers and sisters. The family of Carlos C. Herrera has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
