Carl Ulrich Breuning, born August 28, 1940 in Copenhagen, Denmark to Carl Breuning and Harriet Kirsten Abrahamsen, died April 26, 2023 in Estaca, New Mexico surrounded by his loved ones at home in the “Dragon House”. Carl immigrated to the United States in 1958 with his family and graduated from the University of New Mexico with a Master’s degree in Education. An entrepreneur, he started two companies: Coyne Solar Company, which produced the patented Sun Challenger water heater and Trails West, manufacturer of southwestern furniture accessories. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by wife Margaret Rose (Peggy) Coyne, grandson Carlitos Ventura Mazanarez and step-grandson Isa Mazanarez. He is survived by his daughters, Deirdre and Anne-Lise Breuning, son-in-law Bobby Donlon, grandchildren Theo and Niko Donlon, Carmelita Rose and Jacob Mazanarez, brothers Michael and Carsten Breuning and sister-in-law Vinnie Breuning; more than 21 nieces and nephews, first wife Margo (Mikki) Aronoff and partner and friend Paula Breaux.
