Candelaria Lopez

Candelaria S. Lopez,   passed away on Friday, March 2, 2018 at the age of 92. She was born October 26, 1925 to Francisquita and Estiben Suazo. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Fernando Lopez, her mother and father-in-law Agapita and Belarmino Lopez and son-in-law Anthony Gallegos.  Candelaria was a lifelong resident of Abiquiu, NM, a loving mother and grandmother, who enjoyed having all her family together, she enjoyed going to the mountains for afternoon rides, and spending time with her grandchildren. She worked for 15 years with Georgia O’Keeffe as her cook and housekeeper. Candelaria is survived by her children, Frances Gallegos, Agapita Judy Lopez, Joseph Lopez, Belarmino Lopez and wife Diane, Steve Lopez, and Magarito Lopez and companion Angela, all of Abiquiu. She had 15 grandchildren, including special granddaughters, Cindy Gallegos, Kika Sanchez, Jackie Barlow, and Santana Lopez; 29 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson; her brother Joe Suazo and his wife Clara; special niece Yvette Harrison; best friends, Helen Lopez and Rafaelita Martinez. She is also survived by many other relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited on Friday, March 9, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. at the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Abiquiu. Memorial mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. also at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Abiquiu, with a burial to follow at the Abiquiu Catholic Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers are Tony Gallegos, Nickolas Gallegos, Vicente Lopez, Orlando Lopez, Brandon Sanchez, and Joseph Suazo.
