Cameron "Space Jam Cam" Martinez

CAMERON NOLAN MARTINEZ “SPACE JAM CAM”, 18, a resident of Alcalde, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 4, 2018. Cameron was preceded in death by his baby sister, Angel Martinez; grandfather, Deacon Benjie Lopez, maternal uncle, Morris Lopez, paternal uncle Hector Martinez.  Cameron Martinez was the youngest sibling with the biggest personality.  He has a smile that would light up a room.  If you had the pleasure of being around Cameron he was sure to make you laugh by telling a joke or singing a song.  Cameron enjoyed spending his time in the mountains off-roading in his truck or on his bike.  Cameron loved the game of basketball and it showed in his hustle on the court.  Cameron was selfless in his efforts to put others first – from all of his little cousins, his family members and the whole Espanola community. Cameron touched the lives of so many and it was evident through everyone who wore his Space Jam Cam clothing. He lived his life to the fullest making sure that everyone knew how much he loved them.  Cameron will be greatly missed to all of those that knew and love him.  Fly high Space Jam Cam. Cameron is survived by his parents, Urban and Valerie Martinez; sister, Rebecca Martinez, brother, Loren Martinez and companion Selena; longtime girlfriend, Kayla Hope Martinez; maternal grandma, Lafie Lopez, paternal grandparents, Clyde and Rosalind Martinez; aunts, Lena Martinez (Andy), Thedra Martinez (Matthew), uncles, Wilbur Martinez (Priscilla), Jerome Lopez; childhood friend, Austin Martinez; EVHS Boys Basketball Team 2014-2018 and numerous cousins, relatives and friends. Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. at the Espanola Valley High School Gym. A rosary will be recited on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh, with a Mass to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., followed by a burial at La Villeta Cemetery in Alcalde. Serving the family as pallbearers will be Austin Martinez, Loren Martinez, Nathan Cordova, Leon Trujillo, Isaac Fresquez and Daniel Romero.  Serving the family as honorary pallbearers will be 2017-2018 EVHS Boys Basketball Team, Chris, Thomas, and Aaron Martinez, Xavier Marquez, Adrian Lopez, Selena Valencia, Eric Vigil (E&E), Andrew Martinez, Daylon Garcia Isaiah Lopez. The family of Cameron Nolan Martinez “Space Jam Cam” has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley.
