Buford “Bob” Cook, 92, a long time resident of El Rito, New Mexico. He passed away on Monday, October 29, 2012, in his home on Canyon Rd., after a long battle with Lymphoma. Bob was born on November 24, 1919. His father was Hubert Charles Cook and his mother was Laura Lauren Peters. He had a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Cal Berkley. He worked for Los Alamos Lab in Los Alamos, NM and at the Livermore Lab in Livermore, CA. He worked on atomic energy projects including the underground testing of the atomic bombs in the Nevada Desert. Bob loved to read, he loved sports especially football. He had a great sense of humor and could tell a story. Bob is survived by his daughter, Karen Wills; son, David Cook and wife Cindy; grandchildren: Chris Cook and wife Vicky, Bunny and husband Gary Bowman, Stephan and Sierra Cook; great-grandchildren: Morgan Gluth, Casey Cook, Kenneth Gluth and Suzy Cook. A remembrance will be held in the Spring of 2013 on the Martin’s property in El Rito, NM.
