Bon Diaz, 84, a resident of Alcalde, passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luis and Rebecca Diaz; wife, Aileen Diaz; his son, Donald Diaz Sr.; ex-wife, Priscilla Diaz; brothers, Albert Diaz, Tommy Diaz Caregiver, sisters, Viola and Teresita Medina; sister-in-law, Mabel Diaz; brother-in-law, Eddie Lopez. Bon worked for Los Alamos National Laboratories for 37 years until his retirement in 1990. He was a loving husband, father, father-in-law, brother, uncle and friend. One of his biggest joy was spending time with his family, horses and working on his land. His favorite sport was boxing, his boxing name was “Macho Man”. Bon Diaz is survived by his son Donald Diaz Jr. caregiver; daughter-in-law and caregiver, Sherina Diaz; son, Joe Casias, daughter, Stephanie Chacon and husband Joseph, daughter, Renne Casias and partner Rowland Diaz; grandchildren, David Casias, Erick Diaz and girlfriend Leticia, Great-grandson, Xavier Diaz; grandchildren, Sydney Diaz, Allison Diaz, Rebecca Diaz, Jayden Chavez, Nicholas, and Thomas Chacon; sisters, Melva Lopez, Orlinda Romero, Helen Bustos, Dorothy Martinez, and little sister Estelle Diaz, brothers, Franklin and Archie Diaz, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. The family would like to give a special thanks to his caregivers, Ymelda Trejo, Sam Herrera and Paula Medina, Amber care, Dad’s Team, Sue Hansen, Mary Helen, Chaplin Nancy Dominguez, Janice Trujillo, Gina Binion, Yemelda Garcia, and her nurses for bringing them support in their time of need. Thank you to all who we have not mentioned by name for supporting the Diaz family in their time of grief, heartfelt gratitude and Blessings to all. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Alcalde, with a burial to follow at 12:45 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
