Bidelio Martinez

BIDELIO MARTINEZ, 84, a resident of Chimayo and Army Veteran who proudly served his country in Germany, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 11, 2019. He was preceded in death by his parents, Primitiva and Emilio Martinez; siblings, Willie and Ernesto Martinez, Emma Lopez, Samuel Martinez, Martha Martinez and Emilio Martinez, Jr. Bidelio enjoyed being outdoors. He loved farming and walking. He was very proud of his family and hometown of Chimayo. He was a very generous man and was always willing to lend a helping hand to family and friends. He loved cutting hair for family and friends. Mr. Martinez is survived by his daughters, Angela M. Locke (Eric) and Velma Lopez; grandchildren, Sierra, Shawn and Lucas Locke and Vanessa Koza and Michael Sweeney; close niece, Linda Martinez-Palmer (Michael); great-niece, Meaghan Palmer; close nephews, Bert, Charlie, and Ted Lopez and numerous other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Monday, July 22, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Memorial mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo, with a burial to follow at El Potrero Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be, Eric, Sierra, Shawn and Lucas Locke and his nephews, Bert, Charlie, Ted Lopez.
