BERSABEL (ISABEL) MARTINEZ, 89, a resident of Rio Chama went to be with Our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 after a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Atanacio Martinez; daughter, Patsy; parents, Julian and Aurelia Olivas; grandson, Angelo Martinez-Mack; brothers, Alfonso and his wife Gertrude, Fabian and Leroy; sisters, Lucille and her husband Carlos and Carmen Velasquez; brother-in-law, Pat Serna and nephews, Michael Olivas and Kenny Maestas. Isabel was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved to cook, bake, sing, dance and especially pray. She was a devout Catholic and cherished her Holy hour with the Blessed Sacrament. She supported various charities and lived her life accordingly to her faith. Mrs. Martinez is survived by her children, Lillian Mack, Ernest and wife Diana, Peter and wife Yvonne; grandchildren, Christian Martinez-Mack and wife Michelle, Melanie and husband Adam Sena, Brittney Martinez, Melissa Martinez, Alexandria and husband Ian Martinez; great-grandchildren, Leah and Joshua Herrera, Michaela and Isabella Martinez-Mack; sister, Sofia Serna; brother, Antonio and wife Lupe Olivas and sister-in-law, Eloisa Olivas and many loving nephews and nieces. Public visitation will begin on Sunday, November 9, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 10, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Española. Burial to follow at 11:15 a.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, Ian Martinez, Martin Serna, Arnold Velasquez, Robert Serna, Alfonso Olivas and Julian Olivas. Special thanks to her caregiver, Carmen De Alva, Ambercares staff and Father Vitus Ezeiruaku.
