Bernie Sanchez, died May 28, 2010, a resident of Albuquerque for the past 13 years, formerly of Velarde, NM, was born March 29, 1923 in Guachupangue, NM to the late Damian Lujan and Senaida Vigil. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jose Antonio Sanchez; and her parents; her paternal grandparents: Esquipula Lujan and Francisca Maestas; maternal grandparents: Cornelio Vigil and Carmel Martinez; father and mother-in-law: Juan de Dios Sanchez and Marina Madrid; sisters: Ermelinda and husband Adolfo Gasca and Isabel and husband Nick Cordova; brothers and sisters-in-law: Jerry Sanchez and wife Lydia, Candelaria and husband Merigildo Rivera, Maximo Sanchez, Aurora and husband Laurencio Martinez. She is survived by a daughter, Corrine and husband Jose Neddy Salazar; grandchildren: Jonathan and Jason; great-grandchildren: Alexandra and Christina Salazar all of Albuquerque; brother, JD Lujan and wife Mary of Roy Utah; sisters: Clara and husband George Montoya of Velarde, Lupe and husband Eli Martinez of Elko Nevada, Ramona Salazar of Española and Carmen and husband John Martsh of Albuquerque; brother-in-law, Ruperto Sanchez and wife Pearl of Las Cruces; siters-in-law: Fortunata and husband Tony Martinez of Los Luceros and Pegggy (Maximo) Sanchez of Albuquerque; and a very close cousin, Lydia Vigil Romero; and numerous other relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited on Friday, June 4, 2010 at 9:30 a.m. at the Risen Savior Church on Wyoming BLVD in Albuquerque followed by the celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
