Benny "Benito" - Age 89 - Hernandez Ortega

Mr. Benny (Benito) Ortega, 89, a life long resident of Hernandez passed away of natural causes on Wednesday, February 2, 2011. Benito retired from the LANL (Zia Company) after 39 years of loyal service. His passion was cattle and farming and was an avid outdoorsman. He loved preaching the Word of the Lord Jesus Christ, and exemplifying it in his daily life. He was the last of 8 siblings and will be missed dearly. Benito was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie “Jesucita” Ortega; parents, Mr. & Mrs. Dario Ortega; and all of his siblings; daughter, Gloria Bendiola; grandson, Rudy (Boo Boo) Bendiola. He is survived by his sons: Benny J. Ortega of Hernandez, Adan Ortega and wife Rebecca of Santa Clara Pueblo, Joseph “Pepo” Ortega and wife Brenda of Hernandez; daughters: Eileen Ulibarri of Hernandez, Rebecca “Becky” Cordova-Ortega of Hernandez; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 24 great great-grandchildren. Public visitation will be held on Monday, February 7, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel at DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a Devotional to follow at 7:00 p.m. Funeral will be held on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Victory Outreach in Hernandez with burial to follow at family residence in Hernandez, County Rd. 0001 House #750 with the following serving as pallbearers: Adam Ortega, Jerome Cordova, Mario Ulibarri, Kristopher Cordova, Joseph “Pepito” Ortega, Jesse Ortega, Juanito Ortega, Mario Ortega; honorary pallbearers: Julleen Ulibarri, Krystal Ulibarri, Alicia Ortega, Andrea Valdez-Ortega, Evaristo Lopez (godson), Terri Gallegos (god-daughter), Geraldine Lovato (god-daughter), Daniel Espinosa (godson).
