With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Bennie Salazar, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, who left us on March 25, 2025, at the age of 70. Bennie's kind personality left a memorable mark on everyone who knew him.

Born on June 28, 1954, Bennie was a lifelong resident of Chimayo, NM. He married the love of his life, Sennie, with whom he shared 42 years of cherished memories. Together, they raised two sons, Benito and James. He was also a proud grandfather to Jaylee Salazar, who brought him great joy.

After many years with the Laborers' Union, Bennie retired, leaving behind friendships formed through his hard work and friendly nature. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing and camping, and treasured time with family and friends.

Bennie was preceded in death by his parents, Jose C and Julianita Salazar; a sister, Urbanita Salazar-Garcia; and a brother Jake C Salazar.

He is survived by his wife, Sennie; sons, Benito and James (Jenny); granddaughter, Jaylee; siblings, Roland (Kate), Daniel (Yolanda), and Petrita (Arsenio); sister-in-law Roberta; and many extended family members and friends.

A Rosary will be recited at Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo, NM, on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at 6:00 pm.
