Belinda Rosie Koenig peacefully left this world to be with our Lord on May 18, 2024, in Albuquerque, NM at the age of 77.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, Joe and Amelia Maestas, sister, Lillian Maestas, and brother, Raymond Maestas. Belinda is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Henry Koenig, daughter, Elizabeth Dominick, son-in-law, Michael Dominick Jr., and cherished granddaughter, Audrey Dominick (Belinda lovingly referred to Audrey as her “mega mi hijita”). She is also survived by many family members who reside in Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Chimayo and her beloved Truchas, NM.
Belinda's journey began in Truchas, NM on March 27, 1947. She was a graduate of Santa Cruz High School in Santa Cruz, but it was in Las Vegas, NM where she worked at the New Mexico State Hospital that she crossed paths with Henry. They were married on November 16, 1968, at San Felipe de Neri Parish in Old Town, Albuquerque. They spent a few years in San Antonio, TX before they moved back to NM. Together, they built a beautiful life in Albuquerque. Her gentle spirit, kind heart, and strong faith will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Belinda enjoyed shopping, lunch dates with Henry or friends, listening and dancing to Mariachi music, visiting neighbors, and ending her days with her telenovelas. Belinda was very proud of the work she did at La Vida Llena (LVL) Retirement Community for 22 years as a certified nursing assistant. She made many life-long friendships there. Belinda retired from LVL in 2012.
Belinda was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, and Nana Bel. Her legacy of love and kindness will continue to live on through her family and all those whose lives she touched.
Belinda spent her final weeks at Presbyterian Rust Medical Center under the care of the Oncology Team and the Medical Specialty Unit (MSU). The family would like to thank them all for their incredible care and kindness. Every doctor, nurse and nurse tech treated Belinda and her family as their own. They are forever grateful!
