Beatrice V. Lucero 79, a resident of Velarde, passed away of a lengthy illness with her loving family by her side. She was preceded in death by her parents, Juan and Manuelita Valdez; sisters, Margaret Sanchez and Consuelo Garcia; grandchildren, Danielle Beatrice Lucero, Antonio T-Bone Vasquez, infant granddaughters, Maxine Lucero and Conceptcion Lucero; brother-in-law, Federico Martinez. Beatrice worked for over 30 years in the public school system as a Teachers Aid in Salt Lake City, UT. She loved to teach and take care of children. She was a very loving, kind and beautiful person who always helped anyone in need. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her. Beatrice is survived by her husband of 59 years, Gerson A. Lucero; children, Amos G. Lucero, Andy M. Lucero and companion Susan Chacon, Jacob Lucero, Priscilla C. Lucero and companion Lorenzo Lopez, Pablo L. Lucero, Inez D. Lucero and companion Derick Velarde; sisters, Orlinda Vigil and spouse Robert, MaryAnn Carrillo and spouse Leroy, Ruby Martinez, brothers, Joe Valdez and spouse Melita, grandchildren, Arnold, Armando, Cristina, Isacc, Alisha, Amos Jr., Andrew, Baby Paul, Daniel, Amanda, Maxine and her companion Jerry Chacon, Gale, Jamin and Shaymen, and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. A rosary will be recited on Friday, March 13, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Velarde. Memorial mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, with a burial to follow at the Velarde Cemetery. The family of Beatrice V. Lucero has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
