Barbara Jean Henry Age - 85 Forrest

Barbara Jean Henry Forrest, 85, died on March 21, 2011 from complications from Alzheimer’s. She had battled Alzheimer’s Disease for years, and when she got pneumonia and the flu she was not strong enough to fight it. Barbara’s long charmed life was full of love, happiness, relatives and friends. Barbara, the only child of Bill and Lucile Henry was born in Exeter, California, on February 24, 1926. Barbara and Bob were married in Las Cruses, NM on December 15, 1952. They spent their honeymoon in Mexico City, Mexico. Barbara loved cats, gardening and reading. At Bob’s urging she learned to play golf and bridge, which she loved. She was an excellent bridge player and became a Life Master which is the highest rating in duplicate bridge. She and Bob were a formidable pair and won many times in weekly tournaments. Barbara and Bob moved to Los Alamos in January, 1964 when Bob got a job at Zia, then later at Los Alamos National Lab. Barbara and Bob traveled to many tourist attractions in New Mexico, and went to Southern Colorado every year with their kids to camp for two weeks by Pagosa Springs. Barbara loved music. She had a Master’s degree in Music Education from the University of Texas. She was a Choir and French teacher in El Paso Public Schools until the birth of her first daughter, then she taught piano lessons for 12 years in her home after her younger daughter turned five. Barbara then worked at LANL for 15 years until she retired. After they both retired from the lab, Bob and Barbara flew to Hawaii several times. Once they sailed from Hawaii to Tahiti. They also visited Turkey, Greece and the island of Sicily. While in Sicily their guide had them board mules which they road up a hill where the guide pointed out ex-president Alamann’s yacht in the harbor. Barbara was mentally a very strong and courageous woman throughout her life. Barbara was loved by all who knew her. Her kindness and appreciation of others will always be remembered. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Adrian Romero. Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Robert P. Forrest; step-son, Robert D. Forrest and wife Cissie; daughters: Susan Samantha Barbara Forrest, Vicky Lynne Taylor and husband Wayne; grandchildren: Kyle Forrest, Shayna Forrest, Forrest Harmony, Nathan Harmony, Chloe Darnell, Ayla Taylor, Dustin Taylor; great-granddaughters, Alyson Harmony and another due in April. Memorial will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Calvary Chapel in Los Alamos. The family of Barbara J.
