Barbara Gillaspie

BARBARA JOYCE GILLASPIE, 86, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 23, 2015 at the home of her daughter in Los Alamos, New Mexico. Barbara was born in Carey, Ohio, moving to Pasadena, California as a child, and living there until she married Bill Wagner. Bill and Barbara settled in the Santa Ynez Valley and raised their family on a small, picturesque ranch. Barbara also lived in Santa Barbara, and then relocated to San Luis Obispo. She lived in Laguna Lake Mobile Home Park where she met and married Bob Gillaspie. She worked at Sierra Vista Hospital and at the Laguna Lake Golf Course. She enjoyed volunteering as an usher at the Cal Poly Performing Arts Center, and working in the garden at the Dallidet Adobe in San Luis Obispo. As a member of the Laguna Lake Ladies Golf Club, Barbara enjoyed golf, friendship and laughter. Barbara is survived by her 2 daughters; 3 grandchildren and former husband and treasured friend, Bill Wagner. She will be remembered for her eternal optimism, love of life and radiant smile. At Barbara’s request, there will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers or cards, a memorial donation may be made to the Los Alamos Visiting Nurse Service. The family of Barbara Joyce Gillaspie has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
