Aurelia - Age 82 - Velarde McKinney

AURELIA R. MCKINNEY, 82, a resident of Velarde, passed away on Monday, December 12, 2011 following a short illness. Mrs. McKinney was born November 6, 1929 to Aurelio and Nicolas Romero of Velarde. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy F. McKinney; sister, Viola Smith and brother, Reynaldo Romero. Mrs. McKinney is survived by her children, Patty and husband Joe of Farmington, Melinda, Patrick, David and Michael all of Velarde; grandchildren, Lordine and Gerald Garcia of Farmington, Matthew and girlfriend Yolanda of Española; great-grandchildren, Tianna, Tommey, Sean and Breaden; brothers, Joe, Eli, Alfonso and Silas and wife Ellen all of Velarde and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Sunday, December 18, 2011 at 4:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 5:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 19, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Velarde. Burial to follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, Leroy Trujillo, Manuel Trujillo, Anthony Garcia, Chris Valdez, Trenton Smith and Mark Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family of Aurelia R. McKinney has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
