Augustine (Gus) Lujan, 93, departed from this life peacefully on Sunday, February 28, 2016.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Ascencion, (Sennie) and his infant children: Mary Anastasia and John Vincent, his parents: Alfredo and Amada Lujan; sisters; Sarah Roybal, Maclovia Garcia, Endelecia Lujan, and Isabelle Roybal;  brothers: Luis Lujan, Leopoldo Lujan, Alfredo Lujan, and Ruben Lujan.
Gus served in the U.S. Army during World War II and worked at Los Alamos National Laboratory in the WX-3 Division until his retirement in 1984.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, was an Oblate of the Precious Blood – “Handmaids of the Precious Blood Sisters” in Jemez Springs, and served in various parish committees.
Gus is survived by his son, Eddie Lujan and daughters, Cecilia Lujan and Angela and husband Larry Vigil. Grandchildren: Amanda Cola (Mark), Monica Kanney (Mike), Amy Fresquez (Joseph), Vincent Vigil and Stefanie Vigil-Cordova (Jason). Great-grandchildren: Shadai and Gabriella Vigil, Leah and Samantha Ditto, Mia Kanney, Kadin Swensen, Gracie Swensen, Ava Cola, Brenden Fresquez, Zachary Fresquez, Amanda Miller, and L. J. Archibeque. He is also survived by his sister Amada Lujan, and brother Eloy Lujan; sisters in law: Theresa Morawski, Tillie Birrer, and Virgie Allee; and many nieces and nephews.
Gus enjoyed the outdoors; especially fishing, hunting and gardening. He will be remembered for the impeccably manicured yard he kept and the delicious fruits and vegetables he grew and shared with many.  He was a quiet man with a large presence and a smile for everyone he came in contact with. He was a loving, supportive, encouraging, and caring husband, father, grandpa, and great-grandpa who will be dearly missed.
A rosary will be recited on Sunday, March 6, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Canada. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 7, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Canada, with a burial to follow at 11:15 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers, Vincent Vigil, Jason Cordova, Mark Cola, Joseph Fresquez, Mike Kanney, and Andrew Trujillo, honorary pallbearers are his grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as his god-children, Rueben Roybal, Roland Lujan, Brian Padilla, Anthony LeBow, and special friends Felix DePaula, Buddy Torres, Joseph Bustos, Joe L. Sanchez, Anthony Valdez, and Wanda Blea, his devoted caregiver. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Sons of the Holy Family Seminary, Silver Spring, Maryland c/o Holy Cross Church.
