With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Arturo Prado, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, who left us on April 4, 2025, at the age of 88.
Arturo was born on January 7, 1937, to Hipolito Prado and Paulina Flores of Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico.
Arturo's soul thrived in the embrace of the great outdoors. The rustle of leaves and the shimmering waters called to him, igniting a fierce passion for fishing and camping that coursed through his veins. He found solace in the pages of a good book, where every word danced in harmony with the symphony of nature. And when the sun dipped low, he became a maestro of the grill, weaving together flavors in a culinary celebration savoring every moment spent with the people he adored.
His hands, skilled and weathered, bore the marks of his artistry as a master craftsman, creating breathtaking fireplaces and laying bricks that whispered stories of Santa Fe, NM. With each tile meticulously placed, he built not just structures, but memories that would last a lifetime. But beyond his remarkable talents, it was in the mellow strumming of his guitar and bass and the heartfelt melodies that flowed from his lips that he truly shined-infusing life into any gathering with warmth and joy.
Arturo was a beacon of wisdom, a wellspring of thoughtful advice that flowed effortlessly from his heart to those around him. His patience was legendary; he took the time to listen, to understand, and to uplift. He was more than just a man; he was a cherished husband and a devoted father, the very heart of our family, a cherished friend, a steadfast presence in the lives of those fortunate enough to know him.
Arturo was preceded in death by his parents, Hipolito Prado and Paulina Flores, and various relatives.
He is survived by his wife Cloraida of Cordova, NM; sons Pedro Sanchez (Jennifer) of Nambe, NM, Ramon Sanchez (Michelle) of Cordova, Harold Sanchez (Gina) from Espanola, NM, and Juan Sanchez (Anna) of Chamita; daughters Connie Trujillo (David) of Chimayo, NM, Dolores Sanchez (Johnny) of Espanola, Claudine Aquilar (Marvin) from Espanola, and Isela Archuleta (Daniel) of El Rito, and many relatives from New Mexico and Mexico.
