ARSENIO “ARCHIE” ROMERO, 87, a resident of Cordova, was born on May 27, 1932. He went peacefully to his final resting place on September 18, 2019. He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Beroniz Romero; in-laws, Sarita and Candido Trujillo; son, Candido “Candiman” Romero; son-in-law, Kenny Romero; sisters, Cipia Dominguez and Adonelia Pacheco; brothers, Moises, Felix and Herimis Romero; grandson, Manuel Sandoval; brothers-in-law, Tony and Willie Trujillo . Arsenio graduated from Menual High School in 1955. He worked in California and Colorado before returning to his hometown of Cordova where he married the love of his Life Bernie. Arsenio retired from the Los Alamos Laboratory after 30 years. His favorite season was winter because he loved to be on the tractor plowing the snow. His hobbies were hunting with his buddies and sons and listening to KDCE. He was known to everyone as “Archie” or “Arch”. He always had a smile on his face. Everyone knew not to touch his sides because he was so ticklish that would make him jump or even punch you. He instilled good values in all his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Arsenio is survived by his wife of 62 years, Bernie Romero; son, Victor Romero; daughters, Bernice Romero (Phil Sanchez), Eileen Rael, Cindy (Alvaro) Vigil; grandchildren, Faith Sandoval, Katrina (Jesse) Martinez, Fabian (Kimberly) Romero, Brandon (Alexandra) Rael, Devon Romero (Carrie), Randy Romero, Kristi Romero (Travis), Zachary and Destiny Vigil; great-grandchildren, Kaylee Chavez, Shawn, Jordan and Kinsley Martinez, Keyanna, Manny, Renae, Kayla, Alyana, Mia, Sienna, Jazarae and Alayna Sandoval, Denajah Romero, Dominic and baby Rael, Connor, Logan, Candy, Jameson and Layla Romero, Leah Martinez, Frankie Quintana, Mariah and Samantha Brown; brother, Joe Romero (Betty), sister, Priscilla Romero; brothers-in-law, Nestor Dominguez, Joey Trujillo (Toni), Eliseo Trujillo (Yolanda), Johnny Trujillo Sr. (Estella), sister-in-law, Lillian Trujillo; close nephews, Adrian, Lee, Alex, and Timothy Trujillo, Jimmy and Louie Dominguez and Lupe Garcia; special niece, Jaylene Trujillo; numerous other close nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a devotional service to follow at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Monday, September 23, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a burial to follow at the Presbyterian Cemetery in Cordova. Serving the family as pallbearers are Brandon Rael, Randy Romero, Zachary Vigil, Fabian Romero, Devon Romero, Shawn Martinez, Manny Sandoval Jr., and Johnny Trujillo Jr., honorary pallbearers are all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Special thanks to Ambercare staff, Dr. Maes, nurses, Sarita Trujillo, Mariah and Julian, Mike Haws, Janice Trujillo, giving staff, Amy, Thomas Casias and Compassus staff.
