ARMANDO RICARDO ORTIZ, 90, formerly of Santa Fe, most recently residing in Chili, was carried home by our blessed mother on Saturday, July 18, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents, Urbano and Theresita Ortiz; in-laws, Seferino and Marcelina Serrano; his son, Arthur (Woody) Ortiz; 5 sisters; 1 brother; and 2 loving granddaughters. Armando was 16 when he enlisted in the United States Military. After his honorable discharge, he began work as a painter with the Los Alamos National Laboratory where he worked for 41 years. He loved the outdoors, and enjoyed hunting and fishing, but nothing compared to the love he had for his family. He was always smiling and always showing affection to those who loved him most. He touched so many lives through laughter and jokes. His heart of gold will be dearly missed but never forgotten. He impacted the lives of so many that will be forever remembered and always cherished. His family will always remember his cooking skills; his favorite dishes consisted of high quality French fries, salted fruit, chicharrons, and famous cucumber salad. He will always be remembered during his family’s weekend poker party’s and loving family gatherings. There are so many heartfelt moments of his life; his days at the casino brought him and his loved ones so much joy. His favorite quote was, “If you can’t stop at the casino on the way, wave as you drive by”. He was survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Jane Ortiz; his son, Rick Ortiz (Sue); children, Belle Dodier (Steve), Edwina and Regina Romero, and Fabian Trujillo; sister, Dolores, his Serrano sisters-in-law, 12 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
