Archie - Age 64 - Arroyo Seco Velarde

Archie Velarde, 64, a resident of Arroyo Seco and formerly of Ojo Sarco, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2011. Archie was born on July 25, 1947 to Antonio and Roberta Velarde in Embudo, NM. Archie proudly served in the U.S. Air Force serving a tour in Vietnam. He was preceded in death by his parents, and father-in-law, Juan Montoya. He is survived by his beloved wife, Irina, and children: Maria Montoya (Paul), Livia Peters (Chris), and Roberta Velarde (fiancé Brandon Montoya), and his grandchildren, Jeremy, John, Joshua, Isabella, Ava, and Zander. He dearly loved his family. He is also survived by his brother-in-laws, Harry (Doris), John (Loyola), Harold (Swanne) and sister-in-law, Carla Montoya; and numerous other relatives and friends. Rosary will be recited on Thursday, December 22, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 23, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada. Interment will be held on Friday, January 27, 2012 at 11:15 a.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with full military honors.
