ANTONIA MARIA GUTIERREZ, 93, a resident of Chama, passed away on Monday, January 4, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband of 76 years, Jose D. Gutierrez; son, Horacio Gutierrez; granddaughters, Rhonda Gutierrez and Vickie Valdez; grandson, Michael Smith, Jr. and 2 sisters. Antonia was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved playing bingo and cards and was a great cook. She welcomed everyone into her home unconditionally and made them feel at home. Everyone was blessed to have known her. She loved to spoil her grandchildren. She had a big heart and will be missed by all. Mrs. Gutierrez is survived by her children, Rose Valdez and husband Gilbert of Chama, Seneida Thompson of Perry, Utah, Mary Lucero and husband Chris of Chama, Theresa Brown and husband David of Eden, Utah, Robert Gutierrez and wife Patricia of Albuquerque, Angie Gutierrez Serrano and husband Benny of Abiquiu, Fermin Gutierrez and wife Jane of Price, Utah, Josie Hargrove of Van Nuys, CA, Evelyn DeCosta and husband Dwayne of Albuquerque and Antoinette Gutierrez and fiancé Manny Archuleta of Pojoaque; brother, Luis Herrera and wife Donelia; brothers-in-law, Frank Gutierrez and wife Mela and Perfecto Gutierrez and wife Alicia of Albuquerque; sister-in-law, Frances Herrera of Ogden, Utah; 57 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Friday, January 8, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory and at 6:00 p.m. at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Chama with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. also at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Chama. Burial to follow at the Chama Community Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, Sean Ulibarri, Jonathan Coriz, Jr., Larry Valdez, Horacio Lucero, Felipe Lucero, Tony Maestas, Lee Gutierrez and Joseph Gutierrez.
